Later on, in August 2014, Hicks joined the Trump organization working as a full-time employee. Prior to working at the trump organization, she had worked for Ivanka Trump. During the election campaign of Trump, Trump had asked her to become his press secretary. While she initially declined the offer, Trump talked his way into her accepting the offer. She played the role of gatekeeper to press channels who wanted to speak with Trump. After Trump won the elections, Hicks was appointed as the interim white house communications director. Later on September 12, 2017, she was appointed as the permanent White House Communications director.

Following various circumstances, she left the Trump organization. She went on to become Fox corporators Chief communications officer and Executive vice president. However, just after 2 years as an executive vice president at Fox, she left the job and rejoined the Trump organization. She was hired as an aide to Jared Kush and counselor to President Donald Trump.
