Pitcher who won the National League Rookie of the Year award in 2014 for his stellar first season with the New York Mets, posting a 2.69 ERA and 144 strikeouts. He was named National League Rookie of the Month twice during the season. In 2015, he helped the Mets reach the World Series. He won the NL Cy Young award in 2018 and 2019. 

Before Fame

He played baseball and basketball at Calvary Christian Academy in Ormond Beach, Florida. He played college baseball at Stetson University.

Trivia

He tied a Major League Baseball record by striking out the first eight batters he faced during a September 2014 game against the Miami Marlins.

Family Life

He married Stacey Harris in 2014 and in 2016 they welcomed their first child. He grew up alongside his two sisters.
