In 2004, while Emily Maitlis took maternity leave she was the main co-presenter on the program and also worked as the main co-presenter for ITN while Mary Nightingale was on maternity leave and announced her as a relief presenter for ITV when Mary returned.

Likewise, in 2010 she became a solo presenter and also presented the ITV Lunchtime news in a shared role. And for the 2015, 2017, and 2019 elections she has been part of ITV’s election live coverage.

On 24 May 2019, it had announced that Hossain would leave ITV News London. And then become the lead presenter of the ITV Lunchtime News. On 19 June 2019, she presented her final ITV News London 6 pm bulletin. She has been presenting the weekly Coronavirus: Q&A on ITV from March until June 2020.
